Spring is finally in the air and how ready are we to be outside and enjoy gardening and other outside activities?! While most people say that they don’t do their nails because they garden or clean, they should actually be doing their nails more often. Manicures are more than just a polish application. Manicures are meant to nourish and hydrate the skin, keep the nails shaped correctly and gently keeping the cuticles pliable and healthy.
Gardeners who don’t wear gloves typically deal with cracked nails, hangnails and ragged, irritated cuticles not to mention wrinkles and sun spots on the hands. So it is essential to actually treat your hands to gentle care even if you’re not getting polish, by scheduling at a minimum a monthly spa manicure, indulgent manicure or even one of my hand facials, all of which can be done with your monthly pedicure.
To keep the skin in optimum condition and address any issues that may be arising from this extra outside cleaning time. In between visits, you want to be sure to focus on cleaning the hands gently to remove any debris as well as hydrating with gentle ingredients such as Shea butter, cocoa butter, goat milk and even a body oil can be used on the skin. Be sure to use your oil first, massage thoroughly into the skin, then apply a thick moisturizer over top to help seal in the oil.
